I get tired of feeling so much.  I know it's depression but sometimes it feels like there are no barriers between me and the rest of the world.  All the grief in my world settles on my skin, dragging me down.  And I get so tired of feeling like a failure and a disappointment.

I needed a reminder today that I am not alone.

WILD GEESE BY MARY OLIVER

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

  3. You are NEVER alone. You live in my head - telling me the tight thing to do. You live in my gut - leading me down the right path. You live in my soul - you provide me with strength when I need it with just a whisper, and, most importantly - you live in my heart. You know me better than most people and you love me anyway. And I love and admire every square inch of you. Our shared history - all the laughter AND the tears - keeps me going on my truly bad days. I DO know what you're feeling, and get it. Always here. xx

  5. That Poetry is Beautiful and profound, you are not Alone... our place in the Family of things is important. Our Journey may traverse a lot of shit, but I swear it's never boring to be on any Journey, even if the Destinations are unclear. Virtual big tight Hugs!

  7. I know this feeling so well, the world pressing in, against skin. You are not alone. Thank you for that beautiful poem. In return I offer you a quote I once saw: Love your sadness, it won’t last. May this be true for us both.

  8. No, you are not alone. Please remember:
It is ok to be lonely, it is ok to be sad. We are all strangers looking out for each other.
