Merry Christmas to all.

Things I'm thankful for today.

A cat sitting on my lap while I type.
A dog in the chair beside me.
A lovely man who hugs me daily and knows me deeply.
Friends to love and who love me.
Children to love and a granddaughter who reminds me of how amazing the world is.
My middle daughter is home for Christmas and Miss Katie is coming Christmas day.
Love and friendship at work, my work family.
A warm home.
Food in the fridge.
Time to cook and decorate cookies.
I don't mind that I cry so much anymore.  I'm crying as I type this, thankful for the love around me.
Blog friends whom I've never met but still consider my friends.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Today I'm feeling thankful for it all. The good, the bad, the ugly and the million emotions and experiences that lay between those layers. That's not a goofy pauliana sentiment, it's how I really feel. I'm just glad to be alive and able to still slog through this beautiful and terrifying thing call life.

And I really am thankful, Lily, that I found lovely you and can so identify with your writing. It's nice to know there is someone out there being honest to the bone. It's reassuring and comforting.

Be well, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
    Love, Liv

  2. Love the photo - super cute haircut. I just cut mine all off and it is a curly version of yours. As for being thankful, I'm feeling very thankful for my family right now. And for holiday cookies, Christmas lights, old movies, and for blogs like yours (and liv's) that help me feel connected to good people.

  3. That's a lovely list. And nice to see a photo of you!

I am thankful for my expanding family, for good health, for my small cozy house, for wonderful like-minded neighbors and friends.

  4. I'm thankful I get to see my boy in three days, that I have ten days off work and get to go to the desert southwest with my husband and boys after christmas, that writing has brought me such beautiful friends--and yes, even those I've never met in person. I'm so glad you are out there in the world. Merry Christmas!

  5. I am thankful for this wonderful woman who fills my heart with peace. Wearing your emotions on your sleeve is a constant reminder of how fragile we all are, and is one of the reasons I love you so much. I am privileged to watch you work and care for your patients whose world is in turmoil and fear; and at the end of the day we go home. Home is a powerful word, and it is one that you have created for me; and no matter where we are; you are home.
Words cannot convey how deeply thankful I am to be with you every day; and how proud and honoured I am to be part of your life.
Merry Christmas my darling wife, partner, and best friend
    The Big Guy

  6. Such a lovely list and yes, love your honesty and vulnerability. Life has much to cry about - both beautiful and painful. I'm grateful, too. Grateful for people and pets, natural beauty, a roof over my head and socks on my feet. Grateful for a political system that still gives me a voice - even though right now it feels that could be taken from us - because yeah, damn straight I'll be using that voice in the next four years and have been using it already for a while now. Grateful that my dad taught me how to do that. Grateful for the ocean. For the mountains. For the sky. For the inspiration I find in others - including you! Wishing you much support and healing in the year and years to come! Great photo, by the way!
